US 6 East of Holyoke Resurfacing
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation, in collaboration with contracting partner Simon began resurfacing a 13-mile stretch of US 6 from east of Holyoke to the Colorado-Nebraska state line in May 2025.
As a part of the resurfacing process, crews milled sections of the roadway to remove the top layer of pavement before repaving with hot-mix asphalt. Other areas were resurfaced by applying a new layer of asphalt over the existing pavement. This maintenance approach extends the roadway’s lifespan, reduces costs and minimizes disruptions to travelers compared with a full reconstruction. The new asphalt not only protects the underlying pavement structure but also improves the overall driving experience.
In-town milling and paving operations to improve US 6 (East Denver Street) were also completed in the City of Holyoke, along with additional roadway improvements, including new signage, striping, rumble strips and delineators.
