US 85 Resurfacing in Douglas County

About the Project

The US 85 Resurfacing Project will consist of resurfacing both directions of US 85 from I-76 (Mile Point 227) to E. 124th Avenue (MP 230.25). In addition to resurfacing, the project also includes the installation of concrete islands, concrete medians and pedestrian push button signals.

Project Benefits

The project will improve the safety of pedestrians traveling along US 85 in Douglas County. A smooth roadway greatly increases safety.


Work Schedule

Daytime work

  • Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nighttime work: 

  • There will be occasional night work for pavement operations beginning in July 2025
  • Night work will take place Sunday evening through Friday morning from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • Beginning in early May, there will be weekday single-lane closures on US 85 in both directions.\
  • There won’t be lane closures during holidays and weekends
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH through the work zone
  • There will not be any height or width restrictions
