Colorado Speed Enforcement Program — I-25 North
Shift into Safe News
Heads up! The Colorado Speed Enforcement Program is now issuing $75 fines for speeding in the I-25 North work zone between Mead and Berthoud.
One way or another, speeding takes its toll. Use this as your reminder to slow down and stay safe — especially in vulnerable areas like work zones and school zones. You can save a life.
CDOT began issuing civil penalties to speeding drivers in the I-25 North work zone between Mead and Berthoud on April 2, following a required 30-day warning period. The Colorado Speed Enforcement Program uses camera technology to increase safety in high-risk corridors, starting with work zones, by providing neutral, consistent enforcement.
The Colorado Speed Enforcement Program launched in July 2025 on Colorado Highway 119 (CO 119) between Boulder and Longmont. In January, the program began issuing $75 fines for speeding on CO 119. The CO 119 corridor has since seen a decrease in excessive speeding by more than 80%. Excessive speeds on I-25 North have decreased by 90% since the warning period began on March 1.

Despite being one of the primary contributors to traffic fatalities, many drivers don't think speeding poses a risk. Don’t be fooled — speeding kills. In 2025, speeding was involved in more than one-third of all fatal crashes in Colorado.
Since reaching a record high in 2024, work zone fatalities have decreased, but there is still work to be done. Keep yourself, your loved ones and your community safe. Lives are on the line. Slow down or pay the fine.
