Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) school graduates

Shift into Safe News

On Jan. 30, the CDOT Highway Safety Office celebrated the graduation of 12 officers from the initial phase of its Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) school. Representing agencies from across the state, these officers will now move into the field for observed, documented evaluations. To earn their final certification, candidates must complete 72 hours of classroom instruction and 32 hours of field work, followed by a rigorous pass/fail examination. By completing this demanding program, these officers join an elite group. The new DREs will work to stop impaired drivers throughout Colorado. Learn more at codot.gov/safety/dre.
