CDOT to install signal back-up system US 160 & SH 3 intersection

November 19, 2010 - Power Out at Intersection for Several Hours Sunday Morning - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - DURANGO - The Colorado Department of Transportation will be installing a battery back-up system in the control cabinet of the traffic signal at the intersection of US 160/550 and SH 3 this Sunday morning.

This system will allow the signal to run for approximately two hours without utility power, and minimize the impact on traffic during a power outage.

The installation will be underway Sunday morning (November 21) from 7:30 AM through 11:00 AM. During the work, the signals will be off and flaggers will be controlling the intersection. The purpose for this work is to install a battery back-up system in the cabinet. This will allow the traffic signals to run without utility power for two hours.

Crews greatly appreciate motorists’ patience and safe driving during these brief traffic upgrades.
