SH 13 in Moffat County Dedicated as “Medal of Honor Highway”

November 19, 2010 - MEDIA EVENT & PHOTO OPPORTUNITY - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Please join area veterans, community members and the family of Major William E. Adams as SH 13 through Moffat County is dedicated in his memory.

Major Adams, a former Craig resident, was killed in Vietnam in 1971, and received a Medal of Honor. State Senate Resolution 10-009, concerning the designation of a section of SH 13 as the “Major William Adams Medal of Honor Highway,” was adopted by the Colorado State Senate during the 2010 legislative session. The Colorado Department of Transportation recently placed highway signs.

WHEN: Saturday, November 27, at 10:30 A.M.

WHERE: On SH 13, west-side pull-out, approximately one-half mile south of the US 40 junction (just south of Craig).

WHAT: Larry Neu, a Vietnam veteran and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 quartermaster, will honor Major Adams at the site of one of the new highway signs. Major Adams’ family will be in attendance, including his widow, Sandra, his daughter, Jean, and his son, US Marine Colonel John Adams, recently back from deployment in Afghanistan.
