Changes In Paving Schedule On University Boulevard Will Cause Delays Tomorrow And Monday

December 9, 2010 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY UPDATE - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DOUGLAS COUNTY— The paving schedule on University Boulevard near C-470 has changed slightly with work taking place tomorrow, December 10th and Monday, December 13th.

The work will prepare the area for the first traffic realignment necessary to complete concrete repairs.  The paving operations will require closures of the left turn lanes from University Boulevard to C-470 as well as one through lane on northbound and southbound University Boulevard.

“In the next couple of weeks, we will place northbound University Boulevard in a temporary alignment in order to complete the first phase of the concrete repairs,” said CDOT Project Engineer George Warda.  “Before we can realign traffic, we must complete the detour pavement in the median, which means left turns at University Boulevard and C-470 will not be possible during the paving operations.”

To complete the median paving operations, the following closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, December 10th and Monday, December 13th, weather permitting:

Friday, December 10th:

  • Northbound University Boulevard to Westbound C-470:  One lane of northbound and southbound University Boulevard will be closed as well as the left turn lane from northbound University Boulevard to westbound C-470.  Motorists on southbound University Boulevard will still be able to access the on-ramp to westbound C-470.   Detour: Motorists on northbound University Boulevard can take County Line Road to Broadway where access to westbound C-470 is available.

Monday, December 13th:

  • Southbound University Boulevard to Eastbound C-470:  One lane of northbound and southbound University Boulevard will be closed as well as the left turn lane from southbound University Boulevard to eastbound C-470.  Motorists on northbound University Boulevard will still be able to access the on-ramp to eastbound C-470.  Detour: Motorists on southbound University Boulevard can take Dad Clark Drive to Broadway where access to eastbound C-470 is available.

Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  Most fines for infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.

This work is part of a safety improvement project in three locations on University Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard.  The project will remove and replace deteriorating concrete at University Boulevard and C-470 and University Boulevard and Dry Creek Road.  In addition, the traffic signal at Wadsworth Boulevard and Coal Mine Avenue will be upgraded.
