Gov. Ritter Appoints Joyce Burford to Colorado Transportation Commission

January 10, 2010 - Statewide Transportation Plan - Joyce Burford of Winter Park has been appointed to the Colorado Transportation Commission for a term expiring July 1, 2011.

She will serve as a commissioner for the 6th Transportation District representing Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties.

Ms. Burford replaces George Krawzoff of Fort Collins (formerly of Steamboat Springs) who resigned from the Commission in November 2010.

Ms. Burford currently serves as the executive director for the Colorado Association of Ski Towns.  Previous to that she served in a variety of roles and most recently as the marketing director for the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce.  She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The 11-member Transportation Commission formulates general policy for the Colorado Department of Transportation with respect to the management, construction and maintenance of public highways and other transportation systems in the state. The Commission also works to ensure that the preservation and enhancement of Colorado's environment, safety, mobility and economics is considered in the planning of all transportation projects. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.
