Rockslide on US 50

February 14, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - FREMONT COUNTY – A rockslide has closed U.S. 50, one mile west of Cotopaxi.

According to initial reports, numerous 20-foot boulders have come down onto the roadway, power lines have been impacted but no injuries have been reported.

U.S. 50 will remain closed to through traffic until at least tomorrow.  Local traffic can still access the area up to the closure points.  Through traffic will need to detour via State Highway 9 to Hartsel, U.S. 24 west to Johnsons Village, and U.S. 285 south to Salida and Poncha Springs.
