Rest Area on US 287 Opens in Time for Memorial Day Weekend Travelers
May 26, 2011 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - LARIMER COUNTY – Today, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) opened the Virginia Dale Rest Area located on US 287 at milepost 383.5 for the season. Restrooms and a picnic area are available at this rest area.
“Our goal every year is to have it open in time for the Memorial Day weekend and the kickoff of the summer travel season,” said CDOT Maintenance Supervisor Tom Aguilar. “As there are a limited number of amenities along this corridor, this rest area is a great location for motorists to take a break before heading into or out of Wyoming.”
The rest area will remain open for the summer months and will close for the winter at the end of September, unless the weather warrants an earlier closure.
In all, CDOT has 32 rest areas across the state that are available to travelers during the summer. For a complete list or map of the rest areas and the amenities provided, visit our website at http://www.coloradodot.info/travel/state-highway-rest-areas.
