Ramp Closures Continue at US 285/State Highway 8 for Bridge Deck Rehabilitation

August 29, 2011 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - JEFFERSON COUNTY – This week, crews will complete the bridge deck repairs on the ramp from southbound State Highway (SH) 8 to northbound US 285 and will begin the bridge deck repairs on the ramp from northbound US 285 to northbound SH 8.

As a result, there will be various ramp closures this week:

  • Southbound SH 8 to Northbound US 285: The ramp is currently closed and will remain closed until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30thDETOUR: U.S. 285 south to South Turkey Creek Road (Tiny Town), south to North Turkey Creek Road, and west to northbound U.S. 285.
  • Northbound US 285 to Northbound SH 8:  The ramp will be completely closed from 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30th until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 1stDETOUR: northbound US 285 to westbound C-470, west on C-470 exiting onto southbound US 285 where access to northbound SH 8 is available.

No work will take place during the Labor Day weekend and the bridge deck rehabilitation will resume on Tuesday, September 6th with additional ramp closures.

The bridge deck rehabilitation project is part of a project that will rotomill and resurface two miles of SH 8 beginning at the south end of Morrison (Bear Creek bridge) and continuing south to the US 285 junction. Aggregate Industries is the contractor for this $941,000 project scheduled to be complete by the end of September 2011.
