Paving Near Tunnel Rescheduled

September 9, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - SUMMIT COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is rescheduling the paving of eastbound Interstate 70, just west of the Eisenhower Tunnel, after this week’s operations were postponed due to rain.

On Monday, September 12, lane closures will be in place on eastbound I-70, about one mile west of the Eisenhower Tunnel, as follows:

  • 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. – traffic reduced to one lane, with the left and center lane closed.  Delays should be expected.
  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – traffic reduced to two lanes, with the right lane closed.  Drivers should anticipate some traffic slowing through the area.

The paving operation is to smooth a “bump” in the road caused by shifting soil during the spring and summer.

CDOT is reminding motorists to please obey all road signs and flaggers, and to Slow for the Cone Zone
