Paving on I-70 after Labor Day

September 2, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - SUMMIT COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is paving two short segments of Interstate 70 between Silverthorne and the Eisenhower Tunnel next week.

On Tuesday, September 6, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the right lane of eastbound I-70 will be closed for approximately ½ mile, just west of the Silverthorne Interchange.  Drivers should expect some slowing or possible delays through the area.

The resurfacing prevents surface deterioration, extending the service life of the roadway.

On Wednesday, September 7, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., traffic will be reduced to a single lane on eastbound   I-70, about one mile west of the Eisenhower Tunnel.   Delays should be expected.

Then on Thursday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the right lane of eastbound I-70 will be closed at the same location west of the tunnel.  Drivers should anticipate some traffic slowing through the area.

The paving operation on Wednesday and Thursday is to smooth a “bump” in the road caused by shifting soil during the spring and summer.

CDOT is reminding motorists to please obey all road signs and flaggers, and to Slow for the Cone Zone
