SH 82 Signal Interconnect Project Update: Work to be Suspended for Winter

November 4, 2011 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - ASPEN - As part of the SH 82 Aspen signal interconnect project, Colorado Department of Transportation contractor, WL Contracting, will continue with the installation of detection loops in the lanes at the Harmony Place, Owl Creek Road and Truscott Lane intersections, completing this work by November 18th. Work will also be done off of the highway to install cable between the intersections.

Due to winter weather setting in, work on the intersections in downtown Aspen will be postponed until next spring.  These intersections include Spring Street, Monarch Street, Mill Street and Galena Street.  CDOT and the contractor will complete this work in late April and May of 2012. The project team determined that conducting this work in the spring will have less of an impact on the downtown area and will give the contractor a better chance of completing the work in a timely manner.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Expect the shoulders of the highway to be closed outside of town at the intersections under construction.  Temporary lane closures will also occur at the intersections during work hours.  Lane closures will not occur during rush hours, which are 6:00-9:00am in the up-valley lanes and 3:00–6:00pm in the down-valley lanes.
