US 6/US 24 Xcel Pipework Finished

December 21, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Final resurfacing scheduled for June.

EAGLE COUNTY — The US 6/US 24 pipework by Xcel Energy from Edwards to Minturn is finished. When warmer temperatures return, most likely in June 2012, Xcel will complete the project by performing final resurfacing work on small sections of the roadway to make it as smooth as possible. Resurfacing will be necessary on US 6 from mile marker (MM) 167 to MM 172 near Avon, and on US 24 from MM 143 to MM 144 near Dowd Junction.

Until the final resurfacing, temporary road repairs have been made, and the roadway will be patched and potentially rough in some areas. Beginning in May 2011, Xcel began proactively replacing a natural gas line to improve reliability in the area and better meet the needs of consumers.
