Northbound I-25 will be closed overnight at C-470 / E-470 on Wednesday, Jan. 20 starting at 11 p.m.

January 13, 2016 - Metro Denver/CDOT Region 1 - Two additional northbound I-25 night closures planned in January.

LONE TREE – Overhead sign bridge installation requires the full closure of northbound Interstate 25 at Colorado Highway 470 / E-470 on Wednesday, Jan. 20, starting at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. Thursday, in time for the morning commute. Additional northbound I-25 closures are planned on Thursday, Jan. 21 and either Sunday, Jan. 24 or Monday, Jan. 25.

Detour route information follows. All work is weather permitting and subject to change. Visit www.codot.gov/projects/i25lanebalance for more information on planned highway closures including detour maps. If schedule changes occur, information will be posted on the website and on variable message signs along northbound I-25.

Wednesday, Jan. 20: Northbound I-25 will be closed at C-470 / E-470 (11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.)
To detour around this closure, through traffic will use the off-ramp at Lincoln Avenue (exit 193), travel east (right) on Lincoln Avenue, head north (left) on Peoria Street, and enter westbound E-470 to access the on-ramp to northbound I-25. This detour route was used by the project in September 2014 when the old sign bridges were removed.

The northbound I-25 ramps to C-470 and E-470 will remain open during this closure. All remaining northbound traffic must exit onto either C-470 or E-470 (exit 194). Northbound I-25 motorists will be detoured onto E-470 to the Peoria Street off-ramp. Traffic will then be directed to enter westbound E-470 to access the on-ramp to northbound I-25.

E-470 tolls will not be collected along the detour route while the full closure is in place. Southbound I-25 will remain open.

Thursday, Jan. 21: Northbound I-25 will be closed at Lincoln Avenue (11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.)
All northbound motorists will be detoured off I-25 at Lincoln Avenue (exit 193), travel east (right) on Lincoln Avenue, head north (left) on Peoria Street, and enter westbound E-470 to access the on-ramp to northbound I-25.

E-470 tolls will not be collected along the detour route while the full closures are in place. Southbound I-25 will remain open. An additional overnight closure along northbound I-25 is scheduled for either Jan. 24 or 25.

Sign bridge installation is part of the I-25 widening project, which is nearing completion. Crews are finishing permanent paving on southbound I-25 near Lincoln Avenue. Next week, CDOT anticipates shifting all southbound traffic to the west while final median barrier and lighting are installed. In February, there will be an overnight closure of southbound I-25 while an overhead sign structure is put in place on the west side of the highway.

Background:
The I-25 Widening Project adds an additional lane in each direction on I-25 from Lincoln Avenue to County Line Road, resulting in four lanes in each direction south of the C-470 / E-470 interchange. In addition to expanding capacity on I-25, crews have replaced asphalt with concrete to better match the I-25 corridor. This project improves traffic patterns from and to all affected ramps as well as provides new pedestrian connections. Funded by CDOT, Douglas County, City of Lone Tree and the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), this $32 million project is ahead of schedule with anticipated substantial completion in early 2016.
