Second full closure of CO 13 near Craig scheduled for April 14

April 8, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - MOFFAT COUNTY — A full closure of CO 13 will take place Thursday, April 14, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor, New Design Construction, will use this time to carry out load transfer of the pier on the CO 13 bridge over the Yampa River.

TRAVEL IMPACTS/ALTERNATE ROUTES: Traveling from the south on CO 13: Turn right onto County Road (CR) 107 and take it to 4th Street. Take a right and continue 5 blocks east. Take a left on CO 13 North/Yampa Street.

Traveling from the north, east or west: Turn south on CO 13 and take a left on 1st Street. Head east for 1.4 miles and turn right at Ranney Street/CR 394/CR 107 and stay on it to CO 13, south of the bridge. 

Alternate routes are advised to avoid the work area, as traffic will not be allowed to pass through during the hours stated above. Construction will resume regular operations on April 15. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph during working hours. There will be no width restrictions in place.

BACKGROUND: The Yampa River Bridge repair project began in July 2015 and is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 18, 2016. Project work on the highway runs from mile point (MP) 85.715 to 85.94, south of Craig. Work on the project includes bridge joint replacement, bridge rail replacement, installation of new columns and pier caps and guide bank reconstruction. The completed project will significantly extend the useful life of the structure.
