Overnight full lane and ramp closures on US 85 in Brighton

September 6, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - BRIGHTON — Starting on Tuesday, September 6 until Thursday, September 8, a full closure of the West Bridge Street southbound on-ramp at US 85 and a single lane closure of southbound US 85 between Colorado Highway 7 and Bromley Lane will take place to accommodate the placement of temporary barrier.

 The closures will take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Detour routes will be posted and are listed below. 

TRAVEL IMPACTS

  • Southbound US 85 on-ramp at West Bridge Street Closure – To access southbound US 85 from West Bridge Street, take Kuner Road and travel south to Bromley Lane where travelers can access an on-ramp to US 85. Variable message boards will be alerting motorists of the closure and detour.

BACKGROUND

The Colorado Department of Transportation US 85 Guardrail project includes the installation of guardrail, curb and gutter, electrical conduit, and fiber optic line, as well as unclassified excavation and removal of fence. This project will improve safety of motorists and is expected to be completed by winter 2016.

Construction will take place Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with night and weekend work expected. Motorists can expect full southbound on-ramp closures during certain work times, intermittent single lane closures on US 85 and full lane closures at Kuner Road in both directions.

During this project, closures will follow these time restrictions:

  • Monday through Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Friday through Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Drivers should be prepared for a reduced speed limit of 55 mph through the project area.

Concrete Express, Inc., of Denver, is the prime contractor on this $1.1 million project.
