Ramp closure on westbound I-70 to southbound I-225 cancelled for this weekend

September 9, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Project completion scheduled for October 2016

AURORA – The closure of the ramp leading from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Interstate 225 that was scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled due to 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies across the front range. This closure is being postponed until next weekend, September 16 through 19. Normal working conditions will be in place for this weekend.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project includes replacing expansion joints, repairing the deck and overlaying the road surface with polyester concrete, a more durable material that will help extend the lifespan of the roadway.

Ramp impacts are as follows:

  • Single Lane Closures : Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
    • Shoulder Closures: 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Drivers should be prepared for lane shifts and a reduced speed limit of 45 mph through the project area. Vehicles wider than 12 feet will be restricted from using the ramp during work hours.

The project expects to finish in late October. Work hours could be extended or additional weekend closures could be scheduled.

The prime contractor for the $2 million project is Truesdell Corporation.
