Improvements to be made on US 160 west of Durango

April 5, 2017 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Work by developer will enhance safety at subdivision entrance

LA PLATA COUNTY - Contractors for Twin Buttes development will begin work Thursday, April 6 at US Highway 160 and Tipple Avenue, just west of Durango. A new signalized intersection is being constructed at this location to accommodate the new Twin Buttes development entrance. Construction will include shoulder work, installation of retaining walls, pavement widening, lane reconfiguration, installation of a raised curbed median, and the installation of new traffic signal.  

The access improvement project is being funded by Twin Butte developers, while overseen by CDOT traffic and safety staff. The work is expected to be completed by the end of June.

TRAVEL AND ACCESS IMPACTS:  The public can expect possible lane shifts and brief, intermittent delays while driving in both west and eastbound directions on US 160 while work is taking place at the new intersection location. Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
