Crews to Close US 6/North Avenue in Grand Junction July 17-21

Closure necessary for pipe replacement

MESA COUNTY—Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, July 17, crews will close eastbound and westbound US Highway 6/North Avenue in Grand Junction. The closure will be in place from the Interstate 70B interchange to North 1st Street.

This configuration will be in place until 7 a.m. Friday, July 21, at which time US 6 will reopen in both directions. Access to local businesses and the I-70 Frontage Road remain open.

Detours

  • To access US 6 from eastbound I-70B, drive further east to the Grand Avenue interchange.
  • Westbound US 6/North Avenue drivers will be directed along North 1st Street and can follow one of two alternate routes:
    1. Travel south on North 1st Street to the Grand Avenue interchange.
    2. Travel north on North 1st Street and take Independent Avenue west about 0.8 miles to the I-70B interchange.

"This closure is necessary to install important drainage infrastructure improvements that cannot be done any other way," says CDOT Project Engineer Eric Peterson. "Crews will work around the clock to make this closure as brief as possible."
