LAKEWOOD — The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor, SEMA Construction, will begin paving operations on the Wadsworth Capacity: Highland Drive to 10th Avenue project starting Friday, July 14 through Monday, July 17 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. These operations will have a significant impact to traffic.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • Closure of 10th Avenue between Wadsworth Boulevard and Allison Street;
  • Single-lane configuration on southbound Wadsworth Boulevard from 13th to 10th avenues;
  • Westbound 10th Avenue restricted to a right-turn only movement onto Wadsworth Boulevard.

Northbound Wadsworth Boulevard will remain in its current configuration, but motorists will not be able to turn left at 10th Avenue.

There will be periods of no activity, as crews wait for concrete strength to continue paving operations.

DETOURS

10th Avenue between Wadsworth Boulevard and Allison Street closure- Friday, July 14 through Monday, July 17 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

  • To detour around this closure, motorists can use Carr Street to reach West 14th Street from Wadsworth Boulevard.

This detour could add an additional 20 minutes to normal travel times.

All activities are weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.

Crews will resume the normal working hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting on July 17. Traffic impacts will return to normal operating conditions, with two lanes in each direction on Wadsworth Boulevard.

The purpose of the Wadsworth Capacity: Highland Drive to 10th Avenue project is to improve traffic operations for motorists and pedestrians. This project will increase operational capacity of the 10th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard intersection by adding one new lane in each direction on Wadsworth Boulevard, as well as a multiuse path on either side of the street.

CDOT, SEMA Construction, Inc. and the City of Lakewood would like to thank motorists and residents for their patience during construction.
