Temporary Trail Closure at Hanging Lake for Routine Trail Work

May 30, 2017 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Glenwood Springs, Colo. – May 30, 2017 – Hanging Lake Trail and Hanging Lake exit 125 off of Interstate 70 will be closed at midnight on June 4 until midnighton June 9.

This is a temporary closure for trail work. The trail will be closed for public safety reasons while the work takes place.

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps crews will work with Forest Service personnel to remove hazard trees along the trail, build additional rock steps up to the Spouting Rock waterfall and construct barriers to protect the historic resources mid-way up the trail.

“We are asking the public to please respect the temporary closure so the crews can get in and conduct some much needed work ahead of what we expect to be another busy 2017 season at Hanging Lake,” stated Aaron Mayville, District Ranger. “The temporary closure gives the crews the space they need to accomplish this critical trail work safely.”
