I-70M/Wagner Street to Close for One Week for Road Work in Strasburg

Nov. 9, 2017 -

STRASBURG—On Monday, Nov. 13, crews will close I-70M (Wagner Street) for about one week as they begin a roadway improvement project on the interstate, from about County Road 183 to Colfax Avenue.

Travel Impacts

  • I-70M closures:
This approximate week-long closure allows crews to mill and pave the road. Watch for electronic message signs announcing the closure and detour.
  • I-70 Exit closures:
Crews will close both directions of Exit 310 on I-70 for approximately one week. Motorists should use Exit 306 instead.
  • Detour information:
Travelers accessing residences south of I-70 in Strasburg will be detoured onto County Road (CR) 145 (South Yulle Road). CR 145 is accessible via I-70 at Exit 306. CR 145 and 6th Avenue will be the only way to access houses south of I-70 during this work.

Project Info

The CDOT US 36 Strasburg project includes asphalt milling; guardrail removal and re-installation; concrete work; slab repair; bridge rehabilitation; asphalt paving; curb ramp and signage work; and striping. This project will improve motorists' safety and is expected to be completed by December 2017.

Construction will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with night and weekend work as necessary. On US 36, speeds will be reduced to 40 mph in select 55 mph zones. During work periods, there will be a width restriction of 12 feet on US 36 and I-70M. Crews will avoid working in areas that require width restrictions during harvest. CDOT and APC will coordinate with local residents, especially with farm owners, to determine the beginning of this year's harvest.

APC Construction Company, of Golden is the prime contractor on this $4.96 million project.
