Expect Overnight Closures Nov. 20-22 on I-25 On- and Off-Ramps at 120th, 136th and 144th Avenues

ADAMS COUNTY—Crews will close the southbound I-25 ramp at 120th, 136thand 144thAvenues this week to install safety-critical barrier as part of the North I-25 Express Lanes: 120thAvenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470 project.

Motorists should plan to add an additional 10 minutes to their travel time to detour around the closures.

Traffic Impacts

  • 6-11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20:
    The southbound I-25 off-ramp to 144th Avenue will be closed.
    • Detour: Travelers on southbound I-25 will exit at 136th Avenue, proceed west to Huron Street, then turn north on Huron Street to reach 144th Avenue.
  • 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21:
    The southbound I-25 off-ramp to 136th Avenue will be closed.
    • Detour: Travelers on southbound I-25 will exit at 144th Avenue, proceed west to Huron Street, then turn south on Huron Street to 136th Avenue.
  • 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22:
    The southbound I-25 on-ramp from 120th Avenue will be closed.
    • Detour: Travel west on 120th Avenue to Huron Street, then turn south on Huron Street to reach 104th Avenue, and enter southbound I-25.
  • 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 and Tuesday, Nov. 21, and 8:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22:
    Expect single-right-lane closures on northbound I-25 between 128th and 136th avenues.

Following this, crews will shut down work until Monday, Nov. 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Project Info

The North I-25 Express Lanes project from 120thAvenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470 is a $97.5 million project that will improve safety, capacity and user choice to a rapidly developing region. 

This project will continue the previous Express Lanes project, which was completed on I-25 between US 36 and 120thAvenue, and will extend the Express Lanes to Northwest Parkway/E-470. The project will add capacity on I-25 up to Northwest Parkway/E-470 and construct a new asphalt surface from 120th Avenue to Colorado Highway 7. Motorists can expect the roadway to be in its final alignment by winter 2018. 

Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with periodic night and weekend work. Motorists can expect various lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-25 as well as periodic ramp closures. Traffic will be maintained during peak travel times throughout construction.
