Ridge Road Re-Opens Between US 24 and Colorado Avenue
COLORADO SPRINGS—Crews on Aug. 29 opeened Ridge Road between W. Colorado Avenue and US Highway 24, a closure that's been in place since July for traffic improvements. Work included:
- constructing traffic calming islands to help delineate and direct traffic movements.
- reconstructing the Ridge Road and Colorado Avenue intersection by paving and installing new water mains, storm sewer, curb gutter and drive entrances. This work was associated with the Westside Avenue Action Plan (WAAP) Project with El Paso County.
Project Info
CDOT's US 24 at 31st Street and Ridge Road project will improve the safety of motorists, as well as upgrade ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for easy accessibility. Work on this project also includes upgrades to signals and sewer lines. The estimated completion is winter 2018.
Regular work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, with night and weekend work as necessary. Motorists can expect shoulder closures on US 24 during daytime work on this project.
From 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., crews will keep two lanes of traffic open on US 24 in both directions. Speeds will be reduced by 5 to 10 mph on US 24 in the work zone.
Wildcat Construction Company, Inc., of Colorado Springs is the prime contractor on this $1.7 million project.
