Crews to Close Peoria Street Under I-70 Overnight Dec. 17 & 18

DENVER—From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 and Tuesday, Dec. 18, crews on the Central 70 Project will close Peoria Street beneath I-70 as they demolish portions of the I-70 bridge over Peoria Street.

Travel Impacts

  • During this closure, motorists may still access on- and off-ramps to and from I-70.
  • Only right turns will be permitted from the off-ramps as access to Peoria Street underneath I-70 will be restricted.
  • Peoria Street will re-open during the day with lane restrictions in place.
  • There will be intermittent lane closures on I-70 during this operation.

  • Northbound drivers on Peoria Street
    1. Travel west on 33rd Avenue.
    2. Go north on Moline Street.
    3. Go west on Smith Road.
    4. Go north on Havana Street.
    5. Go east on 47th Avenue until reaching Peoria Street.
  • Southbound drivers on Peoria Street
    1. Take the westbound on-ramp to I-70.
    2. Exit to Havana Street.
    3. Turn south and use the eastbound I-70 on-ramp.
    4. Travel east, exiting at Peoria Street.

The Central 70 Project will reconstruct a 10-mile stretch of I-70, add one new Express Lane in each direction, remove the aging 54-year-old viaduct, and lower the interstate between Brighton and Colorado boulevards.
