Lane Restrictions & Closures on I-25, Woodmen Road Begin Dec. 16

Dec. 14, 2018 -

COLORADO SPRINGS—The week of Dec. 16, travelers can expect mobile lane restrictions on I-25 between Woodmen Road and Garden of the Gods roads, as well a lane closure on Woodmen Road near the I-25 on- and off-ramp.

From 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, expect mobile lane closures in both directions of I-25 between Woodmen Road and Garden of the Gods roads as crews refresh striping.

Mobile work zones are work activities that typically move along the road either intermittently or continuously and the transition area moves with the operation.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 through Friday, Dec. 21, expect a single-right-lane closure on eastbound Woodmen Road near the I-25 on- and off-ramp as crews replace curb and gutter.

Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather/unforeseen circumstances.

Project Info

CDOT started this bridge and driving-surface preventative-maintenance project on 10 bare concrete bridges near the I-25 Rockrimmon interchange to improve safety and ride quality. This project is part of the ongoing CDOT Asset Management/Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program that began approximately 10 years ago to extend the life of the state's bridges to 75 years.

Ten bridges, with bare concrete decks, will be maintained as part of this project. Bare concrete decks are more susceptible to deterioration. The bridge maintenance on the structures will include expansion joint replacement, waterproofing membrane installation, and installing asphalt overlays to protect and extend the life of the bridge decks. Driving-surface preventative-maintenance and safety improvements will also be addressed.
