US 160 & CO 84 Intersection Paving Extended Through July 13

July 12, 2018 - Crews to pave eastbound lanes Friday, complete westbound lanes next week

ARCHULETA & MINERAL COUNTIES—Travelers on Friday, July 13 can expect lane closures and delays at US Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 84, east of Pagosa Springs, as crews continue paving.

Crews plan to finish paving the eastbound lanes by the end of the day, and will complete paving of the westbound lanes over a two- to three-day period next week.

For the next few weeks, crews will make progress resurfacing east on a 14.3-mile stretch of US 160 from CO 84 (mile point 144.29) to east of the Treasure Falls turnout (mile point 158.56). Crews will apply a 2.5-inch surface treatment to the rad—including a 1-inch leveling course of asphalt mix to address imperfections, followed by a 1.5-inch overlay of new asphalt.

Travel Impacts

  • Work hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for the next four months
  • Expect periodic lane closures and lengthy wait times of 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Work zones are expected to be 1.5 miles long to accommodate resurfacing work.
  • A temporary 11-foot width restriction is in place 24/7 through July 27 from mile points 149 to 158.5. Those with wide loads should contact CDOT's Permits Office at 1-800-350-3765 for updates and detailed information.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone for everyone's safety.
