CDOT Invites Contractors to Southwest Colorado Project Opportunities Event

Oct. 9, 2018 - Register to Learn About Upcoming Regional Projects

SOUTHWEST COLORADO—CDOT, the Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) and Connect2DOT (CDOT's partnering agency for small business development), invite area contractors and subcontractors to an informational session about planned construction work in Southwest Colorado, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Holiday Inn, 21636 US Highway 160 W., in Durango.

The event is open to all current and prospective contractors and subcontractors who are interested in finding out how to do business with CDOT, and other agencies and government entities.

"We particularly encourage companies or firms with small business certifications of DBE [Disadvantaged Business Enterprise] and ESB [Emerging Small Business] to attend. The DBE program is a federal effort to encourage participation of historically under-utilized businesses on public projects. ESB is a race- and gender-neutral program that fosters small business participation on CDOT projects," said CDOT Civil Rights Specialist Kelly Whaley.

At the event, CDOT project engineers will review scheduled projects, which will soon be advertised for bid. Representatives from other local municipalities, counties, special districts and federal agencies will also discuss upcoming construction infrastructure projects planned throughout Southwest Colorado.

"This is a great opportunity for contractors and subcontractors to get a head start on marketing and networking efforts," Whaley added. "We'll also have a discussion about a new provision for on-the-job training. We'll explain the new requirements for all federally-funded construction projects."

Lunch, sponsored by Connect2DOT, will be served. Registration is required. Please contact Kelly Whaley at 970-385-1405 or [email protected]. You may also register online.
