US 34/US 85 Ramp Upgrades in Greeley Start Sept. 24

Sept. 21, 2018 - New Curb Ramp Replacements Begin Soon to Improve Public Accessibility

GREELEY—On Monday, Sept. 24, crews will begin upgrading curb ramps at 13 intersections along US Highways 34 85. The project will entail replacing existing curb ramps at each intersection, with minimal disturbance to grading, utilities and landscaping.

Project Purpose

Certain curb ramps along busy roadways in Greeley do not meet new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The replacement or upgrade of these ramps (see table of ramp intersections) will take approximately 70 working days.

Increased safety, accessibility and accommodation for all the residents of the City of Greeley is the goal of this project. Right of way to pedestrians and access to private driveways and businesses will be maintained during construction.

Benefits

  • The new ramps will meet new ADA guidelines for compliance, and will improve public accommodation and safety.
  • The new ramps will be widened and sloped for easier access by the public and finished with a slip-resistant texture.
  • The materials used in their construction will be fast -drying, ensuring full pedestrian and vehicle access within 24-hours of each ramp's completion.
