US 550 Coal Bank Pass OPEN - Thursday, Feb. 21 - 5:00 p.m.
February 21, 2019 - CO Highway 65 was CLOSED at 6:00 p.m.,Thursday, 2/21 and remained closed through much of the day.
CDOT crews were performing winter maintenance operations, including avalanche control work on the Grand Mesa.
- Northbound traffic was being stopped at MP 28.
- Southbound traffic was being stopped at MP 35.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) has issued a "Considerable" Avalanche Warning for the Grand Mesa.
2/21/19 - The Grand Mesa zone picked up 5 to 10 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, with an additional 3 to 6 inches expected today. Snow will drift into sensitive slabs 1 to 3 feet deep on north and east-facing slopes. Avalanche paths will get larger over the next couple days with more new and drifting snow.
