Westbound I-70 at I-270 likely to remain closed through rush hour

October 3, 2019 - Denver Metro Area, Colorado - Closure started at 11:30 a.m. today due to police activity

DENVER - At about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, westbound I-70 closed at Brighton Boulevard due to an incident in the area. The closure has since moved further east to I-270 on westbound I-70. Motorists should be prepared for the closure to remain in place through the evening rush hour as law enforcement continues its investigation. I-270 and I-225 are the best detours to get around this closure, however motorists should be advised that there are extensive delays on these detour routes. Westbound I-70 is currently backed-up to I-225. There are also delays on eastbound I-70 near the area due to curiosity. Motorists are not encouraged to take local streets in order to detour the closure and should stay on the highways.
