TRB Snap Searches by Topic

Snap Searches provide a succinct summary of recent, current, or upcoming research activities in TRB on a given topic including: upcoming events such as conferences and webinars; names of Committees working on relevant issues; and a list of recent reports from TRB and The National Academies. They are updated periodically, at least annually.

TRID Database Search

TRID is an integrated database that combines the records from TRB’s Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) Database and the OECD’s Joint Transport Research Centre’s International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) Database. TRID provides access to more than one million records of transportation research worldwide.

National Transportation Library (NTL)

Search the collections of the National Transportation Library. Established in 1998 by the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), the National Transportation Library (NTL) provides national and international access to transportation information and offers reference services for the transportation community.

Transportation Research Thesaurus (TRT)

The TRT's purpose is to provide a common and consistent language between producers and users of transportation information. The thesaurus covers all modes and aspects of transportation.

RiP Search - TRB Research in Progress

The Transportation Research Board's Research in Progress (RiP) website contains the Research In Progress (RiP) Database and a data-entry system to allow users in State Departments of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Transportation, University Transportation Centers and other US DOT funded universities to add, modify and delete information on their current research projects. The RiP database now contains more than 13,000 current or recently completed transportation research projects. Most of the RiP records are projects funded by Federal and State Departments of Transportation. University transportation research is also included. The RiP Database now serves as a clearinghouse of University Transportation Centers ongoing research.

RAC Survey Results of best practices, policies, specifications and more

The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) to the AASHTO Special Committee on Research and Innovation (R&I) supports quality and excellence in research, innovation and the application of research findings to improve state transportation systems. Each AASHTO Member Department, including CDOT, is represented on the RAC. RAC surveys are used by RAC members to solicit information from other state DOT representatives regarding best practices, policies, specifications, etc. Those results are stored here. For more information on RAC surveys please contact the CDOT Applied Research and Innovation Branch Manager.

TRB Publications

TRB (Transportation Research Board) disseminates transportation research results and technology information through numerous publications. These include books and reports assessing the state of the art or practice in specific areas of transportation, presenting the results of transportation research, addressing major national transportation policy issues, and identifying research needs. TRB books and reports span the range of transportation functions, disciplines, and modes. TRB publications can be browsed by series or by subject areas. TRB produces and distributes about 200 publications annually. Most of the printed publications are also available electronically through the TRB website.

This searchable TRB Publications Index contains more than 70,000 papers, articles, and reports published by the Transportation Research Board, Highway Research Board, Strategic Highway Research Program, or the Marine Board from 1923 to present.

Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center

FHWA's Office of Research, Development and Technology is at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC), a federally owned and operated national research facility in McLean, Va. TFHRC conducts applied and exploratory advanced transportation research in safety, pavements, highway structures and bridges, human-centered systems, operations and intelligent transportation systems, and materials. The laboratories at the center provide a vital resource for advancing the body of knowledge that has been created and developed by our researchers.

Public Roads Magazine

Public Roads is the bimonthly magazine of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Reading Public Roads is the easiest way to keep up-to-date on developments in federal highway policies, programs, and research and technology.

Innovator

Innovator - Accelerating Innovation for the American Driving Experience, published by the FHWA Center for Accelerating Innovation, advances implementation of innovative technologies and processes in the highway industry. Its audience is transportation professionals in highway agencies, trade and research groups, academia and the private sector, and the driving public.

R&T Now (FHWA) Newsletter

FHWA's R&T Now is a newsletter containing information and updates about research, technology, and development from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. The newsletter is an electronic newsletter and is updated approximately every other month.
