Signal Replacements in Denver Metro/Central Colorado | Design Phase

About the Project

The Signal Replacement Project in Denver Metro/Central Colorado aims to improve reliability, safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists by updating aging signal infrastructure around the region and integrating modern signal technology. 

The work is expected to include, but not be limited to:

  • Replacing signal poles and mast arms
  • Replacing controller cabinets, signal heads and detection systems
  • Updating related electrical and communication infrastructure to current CDOT standards
  • Minor intersection improvements with signing and striping

These upgrades are being implemented at various key locations throughout CDOT Region 1, including:

  • CO 128 and East Huron Street
  • CO 128 and Indiana Street
  • CO 128 and McCaslin Boulevard
  • CO 40 and Rooney Road
  • CO 83 and CO 86
  • CO 85 and Oxford Avenue
  • CO 86 and Enderud Boulevard
  • CO 88 and West Oxford Avenue
  • CO 88 and West Union Avenue
  • US 285 and Gilpin Street

Schedule & Important Dates

  • Advertise Request for Letters of Interest (LOI): Spring 2026
  • One-on-one meetings and the Request for Proposals (RFP): Spring 2026
  • Design Start Date: August 2026
  • Construction Start Date: To be determined
