I-25 Lone Tree Mobility Hub Improvements | Construction Phase
About the Project
As the state continues to grow, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and its partners continue to plan and implement high-quality transportation infrastructure and services to accommodate Colorado’s changing needs. Integrating multimodal choices enables the transportation system to move goods and people throughout the network. CDOT’s “Mobility Hub” re-envisions the traditional park-and-ride transit stop. The Mobility Hubs are transportation centers at select locations that emphasize multimodal options, including:
- Seamless mode-to-mode transitions
- Real-time passenger information
- Passenger convenience
- Opportunities to create transit-friendly development in surrounding areas
The Lone Tree location will be the newest mobility hub to undergo construction, connecting to a network of hubs along I-25 from Fort Collins to Pueblo. This transit improvement project will consist of constructing slip ramps along the I-25 northbound off-ramp and southbound on-ramp just south of Lincoln Avenue for use by Bustang transit services. Additionally, the project team will build a pedestrian bridge over I-25 that connects the two transit stops for pedestrian and bicycle access. Pedestrian ramps and stairs will be provided on the west side of the mobility hub between I-25 and Trainstation Circle.
Other infrastructure upgrades will include:
- Installation of bus shelters
- New sidewalks
- A passenger pick-up and drop-off area
The new mobility hub will provide Bustang users access to the light rail, Lone Tree’s Link on Demand transit service and connect to the future Lone Tree City Center.

Project Benefits
- Providing affordable and reliable transportation through CDOT’s interregional express bus service Bustang
- Offering access to the Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) light rail and other local transit, such as Lone Tree’s Link on Demand shuttle service
- Allowing connectivity through the Lincoln Avenue interchange to employment and housing locations
Work Schedule
- General working hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Night work will be limited, but is anticipated intermittently throughout the course of construction
- General nighttime hours will occur from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning
Traffic Impacts
The southbound I-25 on-ramp and northbound I-25 off-ramp at Lincoln Avenue will experience lane shifts during the duration of the project with intermittent full closures. The southbound I-25 on-ramp has been narrowed to an 11 ft width and the northbound I-25 off-ramp has been reduced to a single lane.
- There will be intermittent periods of full ramp closures, with detour routes in place
- Permanent lane reconfigurations are currently in place on north and southbound I-25 surrounding Lincoln Avenue
- Lanes are now restricted to an 11-foot width and speeds have been reduced to 55 MPH on southbound I-25 and 65 MPH on northbound I-25. These lane shifts will be in effect for the next several months as the project team prepares for the construction of a pedestrian bridge over I-25.
- There will be occasional single and multi-lane closures on north and southbound I-25 surrounding the Lincoln Avenue interchange
- A full closure across I-25 is anticipated over several nights when the pedestrian bridge over the interstate is being set. This is anticipated to take place in late Fall 2025
- Additional notice will be given prior to the full interstate closure, with detour routes in place
- There will be some pedestrian detours while sidewalks are being constructed in the surrounding area
- The project team is working closely with Bustang and other transit services to limit disruption to current transportation schedules at Lincoln Avenue
