US 6 Elk Creek Bridge Replacement in New Castle | Construction Phase
About the Project
The project consists of replacing the US 6 Elk Creek Bridge structure over Elk Creek on the west end of town at Mile Point 105.8. A detour is being constructed that will use the existing truss bridge relocated to the south of the existing location so traffic will remain in a two lane configuration while the new bridge structure is being built.
Work on this project includes:
- Relocating utilities
- Building retaining walls
- Shoring up the banks of Elk Creek with riprap
- Installing new guardrails
- Implementing erosion control measures
- Applying final pavement striping
