Vasquez Boulevard Improvements: I-270 to 64th Avenue | Construction Phase

About the Project

In July 2025, work began on construction package 1 of the Vasquez Boulevard Improvements project between I-270 and 64th Avenue in Commerce City.

This project is the first of two scheduled construction packages for critical safety and traffic improvements on Vasquez Boulevard. Work includes:

  • Reconfiguring lanes, installing new medians, curb alignment and striping on Vasquez Boulevard between East 60th and East 64th avenues
  • Converting the complex intersection at East 60th Avenue/Vasquez Boulevard/Parkway Drive to a safer and simpler four-way signalized intersection, improving traffic signal timing and adding a new northbound right turn lane from Vasquez Boulevard
  • Intersection improvements at East 62nd Avenue/Vasquez Boulevard with a new traffic signal providing full access between Vasquez Boulevard/CO 2 and East 62nd Avenue, which will allow southbound Vasquez Boulevard through-traffic to travel through the intersection without stopping
  • Widening the roadway and adding turn lanes at East 62nd Avenue between Vasquez Boulevard and Parkway Drive
  • Adding curb extensions on each corner of the Parkway Drive/Forest Drive intersection to increase pedestrian safety and restrict large truck access
