4th Street Bridge Project Update

December 23, 2010 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO – Although the eastbound and westbound structures now are open to traffic on the 4th Street Bridge, finishing work will continue to require lane closures for the next few months.

Single lane closures can be expected on eastbound and/or westbound 4thStreet between Midtown Circle Drive and Elmhurst Place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (no work on holidays).

In addition, the temporary traffic signal has been removed at the West 4th Street/Elmhurst Place/Pearl Street intersection.  Pedestrians are not permitted to cross at this location but can cross 4th Street west of the bridge at Abriendo Avenue or on the east side at Elizabeth Street.

The recreational trail under the bridge remains closed until February 2011 to allow rip rap (rock/stone) to be placed along the embankment of the Arkansas River.  Safety considerations will not allow the path to remain open for users since heavy equipment is stationed on or near the pathway.

Finishing work continues through summer 2011.
