Mild Mountain Weather to Provide Smooth Travels for Spring Breakers

March 20, 2015 - Central/Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - STATEWIDE — With mild weather in the forecast along the I-70 mountain corridor, smooth travels are expected for those enjoying spring break in Colorado this weekend.

For the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) incident management team and maintenance crews, it's business as usual. Conditions will be monitored and reacted to as needed.

"As we start seeing increased activity along the mountain corridor during Spring Break visits, weather is certainly playing in our favor this weekend," CDOT I-70 Corridor Manager Patrick Chavez said. "While volumes could be high, according to forecasts, weather won't be complicating travel."

TRAFFIC HOLDS:  Following avalanche safety protocol and depending on volume, CDOT may implement traffic holds on eastbound US 6 over Loveland Pass at MM 222 both Saturday and Sunday between 4 and 4:45 p.m.

TRAVELER INFORMATION:  I-70 motorists can receive real time traffic information from a live audio stream on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons during the peak traffic times, available through www.CoTrip.org and the CDOT Mobile app.

The public can find winter driving tips online at http://www.coloradodot.info/travel/winter-driving. CoTrip.org and the CDOT Mobile app offer the most up-to-date, accurate road conditions and travel information.
