Emergency Bridge Joint Repair Require Closures on WB I-70 Through Rush Hour

April 6, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is performing emergency bridge expansion joint repair on westbound I-70 between Washington and Pecos Streets and on the northbound I-25 ramp to westbound I-70.

These emergency repairs will require closure of the right two lanes of westbound I-70 and the southbound and northbound I-25 ramps to westbound I-70 through rush hour. In addition, the northbound and southbound Washington Street ramps to westbound I-70 are closed to protect the safety of motorists as the bridge expansion joint repair takes place.

"When we experience major temperature swings, our roadways become more susceptible to potholes and issues with bridge decks and expansion joints," said Tony DeVito, CDOT Region Transportation Director. "Our first priority is the safety of motorists in this area. We understand that this closure will cause frustration through rush hour, but we must make these emergency repairs now."

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes or change their travel times if possible. For more information on current road conditions visit http://www.cotrip.org/roadConditions.htm, call 511 or download the CDOT mobile app.
