Federal Blvd. median construction between 52nd and 67th Avenues starts Monday

April 3, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER – Starting Monday, April 6, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a $2 million safety improvement project on Federal Boulevard (US 287) between 52nd and 67th Avenues.

The project will require single lane closuresMondays through Fridays. Lane closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. north of I-76. South of I-76, lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the southbound direction and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound direction.

The project includes construction of median islands with street lighting and landscaped planters; pedestrian countdown signals at 67th Avenue; new traffic signal heads at 54th, 56th and 67th Avenues; new crosswalks at 64th Avenue; and lighting under the Federal Boulevard bridge illuminating the Clear Creek Trail north of 60th Avenue.

Improvements are funded by CDOT’s Safety Hazard Elimination program. The project will enhance safety by consolidating left-turn movements to and from Federal Avenue. Street lighting will improve visibility along the corridor. Special provisions have been made for emergency access.

Adams County has been an important partner in the planning and development of the project, which is scheduled for completion in June 2015.

CDOT and the contractor team, led by Jalisco International Inc., would like to remind motorists to Slow for the Cone Zone. Fines will be doubled within the work zone.
