Safety improvements at US 34 and 71st Avenue in Greeley begin June 1

May 26, 2015 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - GREELEY – Beginning June 1, drivers will no longer be able to turn left onto US 34 from southbound 71st Avenue in Greeley.

The change is due to a number of accidents in the area over the years. The Colorado Department of Transportation, in consultation with the City of Greeley, made the change and will begin installing a concrete divider in the median at that intersection on June 1.

Once completed, the divider will allow eastbound drivers from US 34 to turn left onto northbound 71st Avenue but block southbound left turns from 71st. Drivers wishing to go east on US 34 from 71st will be able to take the frontage road to the east and turn at 65th Avenue which has a traffic signal.

The median project will take until the end of June and will require some lane closures in that area.
