DENVER—Instead of needing weekend-long closures on eastbound I-70 at Kipling Street, the Colorado Department of Transportation was able to waterproof and pave the eastbound bridge structure overnight on Friday, Sept. 25, fully reopening to traffic by 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. Crews will resume work on westbound I-70 at Kipling Street bridge overnight on Sunday, Sept. 27.

"The crew completed an incredible amount of work in a short time, working to get the roadway open to minimize impact on drivers this weekend," said Paul Jesaitis, CDOT Region 1 Transportation Director. "We're proud of the CDOT project team and contractor ABCO for their speedy work."

This bridge repair is part of a larger $1.9 million project that repairs three structures total: I-70 and Kipling Street, I-70 and 32nd Avenue, and I-76 and York Street. The I-70 and Kipling Street bridge repair will be complete by the end of October 2015.
