Ute Water utility project to begin on I-70 tomorrow

October 15, 2015 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - MESA COUNTY —On Friday, October 16 around 7:30 a.m., Ute Water will begin a utility project that will require excavation of I-70 at mile point 45 in DeBeque Canyon.

Crews will be working 24 hours shifts through the weekend.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and some delays. Traffic on I-70 will transition into a head to head detour from eastbound to westbound.  Multiple lane closures are expected and speeds through the work zone will be reduced to 45 mph.

PROJECT INFORMATION: Ute Water Conservancy District will be enlarging a waterline on the District’s Colorado River pump station. The capital project requires the contractor, Aslan of Berthoud, Colorado, to cross both lanes of I-70 with a new 30-inch waterline.
