Eastbound Traffic Switch Scheduled on I-70 From Tower Rd to Colfax Ave

December 18, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - On Saturday, Dec. 19, CDOT will shift eastbound I-70 traffic to the right lane of the newly built eastbound bridge.

ADAMS COUNTY– On Saturday, Dec. 19, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will shift eastbound I-70 traffic, currently running in the left lane of the westbound I-70 bridge between Tower Road and Colfax Avenue, to the right lane of the newly built eastbound bridge. Westbound traffic will remain in its current configuration through this area for the next several weeks while crews remove barriers and re-stripe lanes. Both westbound and eastbound traffic will remain in a single lane configuration until this work is complete.

To allow for this traffic switch, the eastbound I-70 off-ramp to Tower Road will close at 7 a.m. and remain closed for several hours. While this off-ramp is closed, eastbound I-70 drivers will be directed to exit at Airport Boulevard and go south to Smith Road then east to Tower Road.

During construction speed limits in the area have been reduced from 70 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour. This project is scheduled to be complete before spring, depending on weather.

This project is replacing outdated and structurally deficient highway bridges, widening shoulders to allow for one future highway travel lane in each direction, enhancing public safety and improving the overall flow of traffic through this highway corridor.
