Ramp Closures at Highway 16/Gate 20 Interchange this Weekend

December 10, 2015 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - FOUNTAIN – The Colorado Department of Transportation is repairing several concrete panels at the Interstate 25/State Highway 16 (EXIT 132/Fort Carson Gate 20) Interchange, requiring a couple of ramp closures this weekend.

Beginning Friday at 7 p.m., the ramp from westbound State Highway 16 to southbound I-25 will be closed.  It will remain closed until 5 a.m., Monday, December 14.  DETOUR: Drivers can travel south on U.S. 85 about four miles to access southbound I-25 in Fountain.

On Saturday at 7 a.m., the ramp from southbound I-25 to eastbound SH 16 will be closed.  It will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.  DETOUR: Drivers should exit I-25 at S. Academy Boulevard (EXIT 135), and travel east to U.S. 85, and then south on Highway 85.

All work is weather permitting.

Replacing or repairing the concrete panels is part of a CDOT preventive maintenance project, designed to improve the road surface and ride quality along numerous highway and ramp segments in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Penrose.  It also includes drainage improvements and ADA upgrades at various locations.  Construction is scheduled for completion in February 2016.
