I-25 Closure in Castle Rock Area next two to three nights

April 26, 2016 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - CASTLE ROCK - Southbound Interstate 25 will be closed overnight this week for sign bridge installation across the highway as part of the North Meadows Interchange Project.

Crews will be installing three new sign bridges for Castle Rock Parkway’s road signs. Closing the highway will maintain safety for the traveling public.

The closure takes place as follows:

  • I-25 will be closed from Happy Canyon Road to Founders/Meadows Parkway from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday, 11 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, and, if required due to a weather-related postponement, 11 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday.

  • The DETOUR is Happy Canyon Road west to U.S. 85, then south to Meadows Parkway and east again to I-25. Please be aware, the new Castle Rock Parkway also intersects with Highway 85, so there will be construction along the detour route. Please drive safely.

  • In addition, double lane closures will be in place through this area on southbound I-25 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.  On northbound I-25, the left lane will be closed through this area from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while southbound I-25 is closed.

Only the sign bridges are being installed at this time.  Sign installation will take place later this summer, just prior to the opening of Castle Rock Parkway.

As with any construction project in Colorado, this schedule depends on weather, and could change. For the most current information, stay tuned to message signs in the area and to the Town’s social media – Facebook.com/CRgov or @CRgov on Twitter.

Castle Rock is a growing community, and the Town is preparing for that growth with its largest transportation project ever.

The 2-mile North Meadows Extension will help improve operations at the current Founders/Meadows Parkway interchange with I-25 and the intersection of Meadows Parkway and U.S. 85. It will also provide a second northern access for residents on the west side of Town.

The project is the Town’s No. 1 transportation priority. It is a partnership among the Town, Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation, with additional financial support from Castle Rock Development Co. Learn more at CRgov.com/NME.
