Expect Significant I-25 Closures Overnight Sept. 18-21 for Express Lanes Construction in Broomfield County

DENVER—
From Monday, Sept. 18 through Thursday, Sept. 21, crews will close I-25 between 136th Avenue and 120th Avenue as they install new storm sewer infrastructure beneath the highway.

Expect delays of up to 25-minutes on detour routes.

Southbound I-25 Closure at 136th Avenue:
10 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. overnight Monday, Sept. 18 and Tuesday, Sept. 19

  • Tuesday night: the left two lanes of northbound I-25 will be closed at 120th Avenue with only one lane open for traffic.
  • Detour: Head west on 136th Avenue to southbound Huron Street, and turn left on to eastbound 120th Avenue to I-25 southbound.

Northbound I-25 Closure at 120th Avenue:
10 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. overnight Wednesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 21

  • Wednesday night: The left two lanes of southbound I-25 will be closed at 136th Avenue with only one lane open for traffic.
  • Detour: Take eastbound 120th Avenue to northbound Washington Street, then turn left on to westbound 136th Avenue to northbound I-25.

  • Expect delays and follow detours as directed.
  • Expect delays of up to 25-minutes on detour routes, depending on traffic.
  • Crews have scheduled late-night weekday work to minimize traffic delays.

The $97.5 million project is extending Express Lanes on I-25 from 120th Avenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470. The project will add capacity and construct a new asphalt surface from 120th Avenue to Colorado Highway 7. The project will improve safety, capacity and user choice in a rapidly developing region.
