TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Motorists can expect delays on southbound Powers through El Paso County Saturday

February 9, 2018 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2

EL PASO COUNTY - As part of Detective Micah Flick’s procession, motorists can expect roving road blocks on southbound N Powers Boulevard (CO 21) from Interquest Parkway to Woodmen Road and northbound CO 21 to east Woodmen Road this Saturday, February 10. The procession will start at approximately 2:30 p.m., beginning at New Life Road, and will end at Meridian Road. Full southbound closures will be in place as the procession enters and exits CO 21. Motorists can expect lengthy delays along the procession route and surrounding roadways as a result of the closures.
In addition to the roving road blocks on CO 21, El Paso County will conduct a full closure of eastbound Interquest Parkway to CO 21 and eastbound Woodmen Road from CO 21 to Meridian Road, beginning when the procession leaves the church. Surrounding roadways will likely become extremely congested as a result.
CDOT is encouraging motorists to leave early to avoid delays but keep in mind 2:30 p.m. is not a set start time as it is up to the family when they want to begin the procession. Motorists should plan ahead in case the procession begins earlier or later than 2:30 p.m.
There is expected to be numerous first responder vehicles as part of the procession and will be moving at approximately 25 miles per hour. Motorists should visit www.cotrip.org, call 5-1-1, or visit CDOT’s Facebook and Twitter pages to receive travel alerts.
